December Gratitude Goddess Pin

Happy Holidays to you all. Well, it's still December and I've completed my last Goddess pin for the year. She is pure Gratitude for being here for another year, for each new day, for being well, being happy, and completing this challenge on time. The shell in her hand is from a local beach, in Hollywood, FL. Here is the link to my website, MermaidsJewelz.com where you can see all of the Goddess Pins I've created for the BJP.

I'm looking forward to this coming year's BJP; however, I'm still deciding what to do. A very healthy and happy New Year to you all.

On time the Rainbow Goddess Pin

Finally, I've caught up with the months. Here is my September Goddess Doll pin, entitled Rainbow Goddess Pin. I'm posting her here instead of linking you to my blog, as I'm almost ready to leave for the airport for a visit with my sister, Karen L Cohen, who is also a member of the BJP.

She is in all rainbow colors with a big smile as this is a great month for me. My CAT Scan was clear and it's a big relief. I've also included spirals, as one of my favorite shapes and the cornerstone of all life. I'm so grateful to be here with you all and able to share.

August's Italian Goddess Doll Pin

Hi All -

I'm just a little behind, and I plan on catching up this month. We're finally home, so it will be easier to do than working on a project while traveling. August's Goddess Doll Pin represents the rest of our trip to Italy. I've posted it on my blog, and I've also included a recipe I developed while there, as we had rented a villa for a couple of weeks and I cooked many nights. Hope you enjoy both the BJP and the food.

June's Spirit Doll

Hi All -

I finished this month's Spirit Doll pin about a week ago. I was having trouble with Google, so it didn't get upload. Here's the link to my BLOG so you can see her and read about her. I really enjoy the BJP and love seeing what everyone is doing.

Have a great holiday weekend.

The slacker is back on track!

That almost sounded like something Dr Suess would write :-)  After falling into some difficulties that took me away from this project for awhile, I'm caught back up.  I've got a post featuring both my April and May BJP buttons on Beading Arts, and my June and July buttons are almost done too!

May's Goddess Pin

We were still in Hawaii until the 16th, so this month's journal piece is all about Kauai. I wrote about her in my other blog, Susan's Food for Thought. Somehow my last SFFT Blog went missing after I wrote a note on this Blog and linked to it, so I've included my April journal piece as well. A 2-for-1, so to speak. I'm having a great time doing these and I'm so pleased with myself that they have been on time. Now to start thinking about next month.

April Goddess Pin Completed

We've been on vacation in Hawaii, both on Maui and the big Island, this month. So, my Goddess Doll pin is representative of my trip. I included her in my latest Susan's Food for Thought blog about our travels. If you want to see just the goddess, scroll down until you get to her - no need to read the rest of the blog. However, there's also a recipe to try. I really enjoy being part of this group! Thank you for being.

March surprise

Why such bright colors for a month that is generally anything but bright in New England?  You can find out why on Beading Arts :-)

March Completed

To reiterate, I'm making small Goddess Doll pins each month. Here's March's "Green Springtime." She's green for both St. Patrick's Day and the beginning of Spring. I used glass flowers and leaves to emphasize Spingtime growth. I used a coconut tree button for her face, again for growth and Florida, where I live. I'm going to start blogging again. My blog, SusansFoodForThought, is all about food (what a surprise!), travel (and food), healthy eating for cancer survivors, and beading. I will have a link to my blog from this one starting with my April pin. I haven't blogged in almost a year and am ready to begin again, especially since we're just about to leave for a trip to Hawaii.

February Fairy Goddess Pin

It's only the middle of the month and I've completed my brooch. I may even start March's pin this month, who knows?
This month's was actually a dual purpose brooch. I'm a member of the Goddess Doll Yahoo Group, and some of those members are also involved with this group. There is a swap going on this month of a goddess pin, and since I'm making goddess pins as my shape this year, I'm swapping my newest creation.
My swap partner likes purple and pink and fairies; this helped me design February's pin. I love pearls, so I used a pink coin pearl for her face (It does hang straight down, but I couldn't seem to manage that with my scanning her.) I gave her a silver pouch of stardust using star sequins and used the same sequins as last month for her boobs. This is my first pair of wings, and I'm really pleased with them; I hope my swap partner will be too. Since it's February, I added a rose quartz heart encircled with seed beads.
I'm still working on my web site, so I'm posting her photo here.

January's The Panama Goddess

So, I finally finished my first BJP for 2011. I decided to do goddess dolls pins as my shape. We've been away for a few weeks, visiting in Panama, and I worked on her only a little bit while we were gone. Here's the link to my web site where you can see January's The Panama Goddess. Well, something's wrong with my site, so here she is:

My sister, Karen L. Cohen, also a BJP member, came for a visit. She had previously given me some fabric she had dyed, so I used that fabric as the basis for my doll. The colors are among my favorites used together, green, purple, and turquoise. I used a lot of flower beads, as it is so lush in Panama and everything grows beautifully. Hopefully, by the time my February goddess is completed, my site will be fine.

Just in time!

I actually finished my January piece a bit ago, but I just couldn't seem to remember to post about it until today!  You can see the picture and read about my plan on my blog if you'd like: Beading Arts

If you've been wondering what I've been up to................

No, I haven't completed any of my 2011 pieces yet!!! Sigh!

I'm still working on 2010 and just completed my July piece last weekend. I took some photos, but am not happy with them so will wait and post next weekend. I guess that I've been taking a beady break and now I'm back with needle in hand. 2011 will need to wait a bit, but I haven't decided if I'll try to do the two years together, or wait until 2010 is finished and then start on 2011. It's not like me to be so indecisive! LOL! I haven't even decided on my format for this year, but one thing I do know, is it will definitely be smaller than last years gigantic 6" X 6" form (or at least it felt that way). I've been peeping at all the blog posts and am quite impressed with the work so far. Please forgive me for not posting comments as yet, but I will catch up a little later in the year. As my computer time shrinks, my artistic time increases and I know where my focus should be for the next while. I'll let you know when I've posted my July piece. If you're interested in seeing what I've been up to, feel free to wander over to my rather eclectic blog.
